: Mike Davey
Mike
is married and the father of two daughters, Samantha and Rachel and
resides in San Jose, Ca. Mike graduated from Santa Clara University
with a double major in History and Political Science where he met his
true love Kathleen McGrath. He briefly worked in politics for the California
Ways and Means Committee Chair John Vasconcellos before he became disillusioned
and returned to school earning his Masters in History and Teaching Credential
at San Jose State University. Mike has taught Social Studies for the
past twelve years at Saratoga High School where he is also varsity boys
basketball coach. After years of watching his wife get involved in organizations
such as Toys for Tots he became determined to make a difference when
his wife Kathleen suffered a cardiac arrest and a resulting global ischemic
injury. After contacting hundreds of researchers and doctors for help,
he decided to found the Global Ischemia Foundation to try and encourage
research in the field and help families caring for loved ones with global

President
: Joseph McGrath
Joe is
a married father of three, residing in Hollister, Ca. After graduating
from high school, Joe enlisted in the U.S. Army and spent three years
stationed in West Germany. He was Honorably Discharged in 1981 and shortly
thereafter began his career in Silicon Valley. His current position
is US Regional Manager for Customer Support activities for Toppan Photomasks.
In his spare time, he enjoys hiking and working on his property. Joe’s
younger sister Kathleen suffers from an anoxic brain injury which is
the primary reason he works for the Global Ischemia Foundation.
COO : Jane Matsumoto
Jane Matsumoto currently serves as Chief Operating Officer. She is a wife and mother of two boys, an active member and Treasurer of Las Madres Campbell 2003 and2005 Playgroups, and co-founder of Bela Buddies Neighborhood Playgroup. Prior to becoming a mother, Jane worked with young children as an instructor’s aide for the Cupertino School District and an assistant in the Child Development Center at De Anza College. It is with great hope, that by being an active member this foundation, she can help contribute in some way to furthering research of anoxic injuries, supporting the families, and some day be able to get a hug from Bean.
CMO : Michelle Roberts
Michelle lives in San Rafael, CA with her husband. She has over 15 years of experience in marketing. She works at the Clorox Co. where she has held various positions in marketing working on brands such as Kingsford Charcoal, Clorox 2, Brita & Glad. She currently oversees the company's Interactive Marketing efforts. Michelle started her career at the adverising agency, Foote, Cone & Belding, developing media plans for clients such as Levi Strauss & Co. and Clorox. Michelle holds an AB in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley & an MBA from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She hopes that her work with the GIF will help researchers find answers & families find hope when it comes to facing global ischemic injuries.
CFO : Alvaro Orozco
Alvaro has learned about ischemia due to Kathleen Davey's injury. He hopes the Global Ischemia Foundation will be able to make a significat impact in educating others of this growing injury and look for ways to provide funding for reseach. He attended Santa Clara University (BSC - Marketing) and has held leadership roles in a couple of non-profit organizations since graduating. He is currently the Director of Operations for Content Management Corporation in Newark.
Secretary : Irene Ydens
Irene lives across the street from the founders of the GIF, Kathleen and Mike Davey. She is a wife and mother of two boys (Jeremy and Daniel), a Certified Mobile Notary and President of Campbell Little League. Irene graduated from San Jose State University with her B.S. in Business. Irene started her career in sales at Xerox and later moved on to sell test products at MC Test Products in Los Gatos. Irene and her husband, Phil, lost their 6 year old son Luke to Leukemia in 2001 after a 4 year battle to save him. Irene hopes to provide GIF the support it needs to help others suffering from global ischemic injuries like Kathleen.
